MotoGP Grand Prix of Portugal 2026 - New dates

The Grand Prix of Portugal 2026 at the spectacular Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão has been rescheduled to November 20-22, making it one of the most exciting late-season highlights on the MotoGP calendar.

Due to ongoing geopolitical uncertainties in the Middle East, the Qatar Grand Prix was postponed from its original April slot to November 13-15. This shift moved the Portuguese round to just one week later, positioning it as the penultimate race of the season, before the Valencia finale on November 27-29.

The Algarve event now promises high-stakes drama, as riders battle for crucial championship points in the closing stages of what promises to be an intense 22-round campaign.

Why the Algarve MotoGP is a Must-Visit for Travelers

In the sunny Algarve region, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve offers one of MotoGP's most breathtaking and challenging circuits: elevation changes, fast straights, technical corners, and panoramic views of the coast. Since joining the calendar in 2020, Portimão has delivered unforgettable races, epic overtakes, and even title-deciding moments.

A November date brings milder weather (typically 18-22°C / 64-72°F during the day), ideal for enjoying the action without summer heat, plus the chance to combine racing thrills with Algarve's world-class attractions:
  • Relax on golden beaches in nearby Portimão, Lagos, or Praia da Rocha
  • Explore charming towns, fresh seafood restaurants, and golf courses
  • Discover historic sites, boat trips to stunning caves, or simply unwind in your resort
The event attracts thousands of international fans, boosting the local vibe with energy, music, and celebrations—making it a fantastic time to visit the Algarve!
