The essentials
This is the seventh edition and the first in early June. The main programme runs midweek, so plan arrival on Monday or Tuesday and departure on Saturday or Sunday.
Afro Nation Portugal 2027 is the world’s biggest Afrobeats and Amapiano festival, taking place on Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão, Algarve, from Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 June 2027. Tens of thousands of fans travel from the UK, USA, France, Switzerland, Germany and beyond, so flights, hotels and airport transfers fill up early. This guide covers the Afro Nation 2027 lineup, tickets, where to stay and, most importantly, how to get from Faro Airport or Lisbon to Praia da Rocha and back to your hotel after the shows.

Afro Nation 2027 airport transfers: Faro, Lisbon and the Algarve
QP Transfers runs private, fixed-price airport transfers across the Algarve and from Lisbon, with a confirmed driver for every booking.
Faro Airport to Portimão and Praia da Rocha
Faro Airport (FAO) is the closest international airport to Afro Nation, about 70 km from Portimão. The drive on the A22 motorway takes 50–55 minutes. On festival arrival days, flights from London, Paris, Zurich and Frankfurt land close together, and taxis, Uber and Bolt all face heavy demand. A pre-booked private transfer means your driver tracks your flight, waits in Arrivals with your name, and takes you door-to-door to your hotel or apartment in Portimão, Praia da Rocha, Alvor or Lagos for a price agreed in advance.
Lisbon to Portimão and Afro Nation
Many festival-goers land at Lisbon Airport (LIS) or spend a few days in Lisbon first. The private transfer from Lisbon to Portimão is about 280 km and takes roughly 2h45–3h15 on the A2 and A22 motorways. It is often better value per person than train tickets plus local taxis for groups of four or more, and your driver can stop for lunch on the Alentejo coast. We pick up from Lisbon Airport or any Lisbon hotel and drop you at your Algarve accommodation.
Nightly Afro Nation festival transfers
The festival runs on three consecutive nights, Wednesday 9, Thursday 10 and Friday 11 June, and the shows usually run past midnight. When thousands of people leave Praia da Rocha at once, rideshare availability drops and prices jump. QP Transfers can pre-book your journey to the festival and a confirmed pick-up afterwards for all three nights in one booking. Agree a named meeting point about 200 metres from the main gate and save your driver’s WhatsApp number before you go in.
Airport transfers to other Algarve towns
Staying outside Portimão? We also cover these routes from Faro Airport:
- Faro Airport to Portimão private transfer (50–55 min)
- Faro Airport to Lagos private transfer (55–65 min)
- Faro Airport to Albufeira private transfer (35–40 min)
- Faro Airport to Vilamoura private transfer (25 min)
- Faro Airport to Quinta do Lago private transfer (15–20 min)
- Long-distance transfers, including Lisbon to the Algarve
Plan your arrival and departure days
Because the festival is midweek, Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 June are likely to be the busiest arrival days, and many flights home leave on Saturday 12 or Sunday 13 June. Book your Faro Airport transfer for the day you land, and avoid very early Saturday flights after the Friday finale.
