XXIV Quarteira International Triathlon

Quarteira, widely acclaimed and recognized by many as the capital of triathlon in Portugal and one of Europe's premier destinations for the sport, will once again host the prestigious Quarteira International Triathlon.
Over 800 athletes from various countries will compete across the weekend of March 28 and 29, 2026, during the XXIV Triatlo Internacional de Quarteira – Prof. Carlos Gravata (named in honor of Prof. Carlos Gravata).
On Saturday, March 28, around 150 elite triathletes. among the best on the international scene, will battle it out in the Europe Triathlon Cup Quarteira (Elite category).
The standard distance race features a 1,500 m swim (2 laps), 40 km bike (6 laps), and 10 km run (4 laps), with separate starts for women (at 09:30) and men (at 12:00).
As in recent years, Portugal will be well represented in both the men's and women's elite fields, with national athletes competing against strong European and international competition.
On Sunday, March 29, the program continues with the Europe Triathlon Junior Cup (for junior athletes) and the Taça de Portugal (Portuguese Cup), rounding out an exciting weekend of high-level triathlon action.
This long-standing event, held in the beautiful coastal setting of Quarteira in the Algarve since 2009, continues to attract top talent, boost local tourism, and generate a significant economic impact (recent estimates place it at over €1.6 million for the region). It's a highlight of the European triathlon calendar and a must-see for fans of the sport!
