Algarve Hosts Opening Round of the 2025 Superbike World Championship

The Algarve region recently garnered international attention as it hosted the inaugural round of the 2025 Superbike World Championship at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão from March 28 to 30. This event marked the beginning of the championship's ninth and final season, attracting top riders and motorsport enthusiasts from around the globe.

Among the notable participants was Unai Calatayud, the sole Valencian rider in the Supersport 300 category. Representing the Arco Sash Motor University Team-UPV, Calatayud made his debut aboard a Yamaha R3, competing against other prominent brands like Kove, KTM, and Kawasaki.

The main category saw intense competition, with Nicolò Bulega leading the championship standings after the initial round in Australia. He was closely followed by reigning champion Toprak Razgatlioglu and Spain's Álvaro Bautista. The absence of six-time champion Jonathan Rea due to injury added an unexpected twist to the competition.

Portimão's circuit, often referred to as the 'roller coaster' for its challenging elevation changes and technical turns, provided a thrilling backdrop for the races. Fans worldwide tuned in to watch the action unfold on channels such as RTVPlay, TDP, DAZN, and Eurosport.

For visitors attending the event, private transfer services in the Algarve offered convenient transportation solutions, ensuring seamless travel to and from the circuit. These services not only enhanced the overall experience but also highlighted the region's commitment to accommodating international guests during major events.
